some things that I did in February
February goes down in my books as a month without blogging. I was stressed out from subbing and some other projects. Though it seemed like I worked a lot, I only subbed 9 days. I guess the fact that you have to be ready evey day but sometimes don't get a call makes it seem like you are working more.
March will mean far less subbing,[hooray], because I'll be starting a full-time, non-teaching job on the 20th. I will have a long commute by bus and ferry to the city, but the job will be easy and I won't have to take any papers home to grade or plan any lessons, or deal with intractable students nor unfriendly teachers in the staff room at lunch. (surprising how sad you can feel when a bunch of people who all know each other are talking around you and basically ignoring you).
Today I am sans vehicle because it is in the shop. We drove it to the mountains this weekend and when we got to the ski area parking lot, coolant boiled over. I don't know why it did this, but it sure put a damper on the snowboarding for the day!
Yes, I said snowboarding. I tried this new activity and only injured myself a little bit. The first time I tried it a few weeks ago, I hurt my tailbone a lot and my forearms were really sore, from falling forward. This past time, I fell on my butt a couple times again, but I had one ridiculously hard fall where I fell backward and sort of whipped my head back and bonked it on the ground. I didn't hit my head very hard, but I have this persistent soreness on the back of my neck that's even prevented my from going running on this wonderful sunny day off. I hope it will get back to normal very soon.
